Hello and welcome!

I’m Catherine, a CERTIFIED PERINATAL NUTRITION EXPERT, BIRTH doula and childbirth educator available worldwide virtually.

I am dedicated to empowering mothers throughout their pregnancy journeys. Originally from Canada, I now live in Tenerife, Spain, with my husband, our two kids, and our dog, Solo.

Offering my services virtually to clients around the globe, I specialize in supporting expat families navigating childbirth in unfamiliar environments. I, myself, have given birth abroad to both of my children and have experienced first-hand the challenges that come with navigating healthcare systems in another culture and language, as well as having minimal support from family and friends during such life-altering events in my life.

I also provide limited in-person services for clients in the Ottawa-Gatineau region during the summer months. My passion lies in helping parents feel confident and informed as they prepare for labor and delivery.

In addition to comprehensive childbirth education, I incorporate nutrition expertise into my practice, emphasizing a food-based approach tailored to meet the unique needs of families at every stage of their perinatal journey. I am bilingual, providing my services in both French and English.

Whether you are a first-time parent or expanding your family while living abroad, I am here to help you create a positive and empowering birth experience that aligns with your values and preferences. Together, we will explore your options, address your concerns, and equip you with the knowledge and tools to thrive during this exciting chapter of your life.

“Working with Catherine made us feel so much more confident navigating our pregnancy, labor experience, and newborn weeks as first time parents.

The experience can be so overwhelming, but having such a kind and supportive person in your corner throughout the whole thing helps so much. Catherine made the classes fun, interesting, and it was really comfortable learning from her. Would highly recommend to anyone interesting in using a doula.”

LET'S HAVE A CHAT
  • A doula is a trained professional who provides emotional and physical support to expectant mothers before, during, and after childbirth. A virtual doula provides emotional support while also helping you make informed decisions about your pregnancy and birth. Virtual doulas can also train birthing persons and their partners to use various physical comfort measures that can be used in the labor and delivery process.

  • A midwife is a licensed medical professional who is responsible for the medical care of the mother and baby. A doula provides emotional and physical support to the mother but is not a medical provider. We are not trained to catch babies or make medical decisions on your behalf!

  • Yes! I speak French (native) and English (native) and also have been working on my Spanish (B1 level).

  • Absolutely! I am passionate about helping expats give birth wherever they might be in the world. Together, we will talk about all of your options and help you create a birth plan (or birth preferences sheet) that you will be able to share with your providers in your birth location.

FAQs

  • Supporting your partner during postpartum can be done in several ways. Some strategies include helping with household tasks, taking care of baby, offering emotional support, or by encouraging self care.

  • Signs of labor include regular contractions, changes in the cervix, water breaking, bloody show, and increased vaginal discharge. These signs can indicate that labor is starting, but it’s important to note that every woman’s experience is different.

  • Luckily, with the help of technology, I am only one phone call away! With my virtual clients, they usually keep me updated on their labor by text, and when things get more intense we either have a phone call or I continue to be in contact with their birth partner throughout the birth to support how I can.

  • As we all know, birth can be quite unpredictable. Having a virtual doula can help you prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and physically for labor and delivery. With my virtual clients, I like to cover a little bit more education in order for them to have the toolbox they need when the big day arrives. If needed, I’m always just a phone call away to discuss options, solutions, and suggestions for anything that may pop up during your labor and delivery.
